I just returned from the United States Aquatic Sports convention in Atlanta and as I was flying back across the country I began to reflect on the 12 years I have been a member of United States Masters Swimming.
I began to think about the wonderful gifts I’ve enjoyed because I found the sport of swimming and USMS. Perhaps you will recognize yourself in some of the thoughts that crossed my mind while traveling home.

Community Pools Form Healthy Adults

The following article was written by a triathlete who is concerned about the situation we are facing in Reno, Nevada. This past year our oldest public pool was closed down and the city has no funds for a new pool. A few years ago the YMCA went out of business and we lost 2 pools.
We have not had a new pool constructed in our community for the past 33 years. Yet our population has increased 39% since then. The swimming community is devastated by this loss of pool space. The following article by Joyce Delfino reflects the concerns we all feel about this dire situation.
